What was great about this is that I had the opportunity to connect with these kids, even just a little bit and make their time fishing fun. It was rewarding for me to see them having fun, getting excited about activities. Just to know that by assisting a child in casting a fishing line, my day was improved was rewarding.
I have learned that being patient, talking, and working in groups with others is very significant to me when assisting others. All the children were different – it helped to be understanding of their own needs and willing to assist the child in their learning journey. A few other interesting things I learned: How positive actions and gestures could greatly affect someone's day.
Thank you Restored Souls Foundation for allowing me to volunteer at Kids Hooked on Fishing Tournament. Thank you for supporting kids & families in my community! It was a wonderful experience, I got to help the children have a fun time fishing and seeing the effect that this had on all involved. Thank you for having volunteers and guiding us to be part of the meaningful event.
